About Olive Juice

This is a journal of sorts of our ideas (as the design goddesses that we are) that don't necessarily get executed and instead just live in our heads. Punctuated of course with things we just plain love, covet, or if you will..."Olive Juice".

Apron Chic

I love daylight savings. With my extra hour this morning I am lounging in bed with a steaming cup of coffee and watching an old episode of Charlie’s Angels. Kelly Garrett just sauntered out in an adorable 70’s chic apron and in made me think about all of the retro-inspired aprons that I have been seeing at Anthropologie lately. I did a quick Etsy and internet search and cute, feminine aprons are EVERYWHERE. How much more fun would holiday baking be in one of the lovely styles below? I might have to bust out the sewing machine and get to work on one of my own for the Christmas cookie season.

“I’ve been cheating on fashion with furniture,” -Carrie Bradshaw

Last night, Nat and I opted for a girl’s night featuring a little vino and a lot of Sex and the City 2. While the movie was fairly mediocre, the fashion and new men (HELLLLLO Samantha’s new international architect find) were fun. But the real scene stealer was the interiors of Carrie and Big’s new Manhattan apartment. I’m literally drooling over every design decision!

Check out some snapshots of Carrie and Big's new digs...

How eye catching is that backsplash tile? Its Oval from Health Ceramics. I am also loving the whimsical print on the chairs...Belgravia from Lee Jofa.

Accent pillow is Birdie Blossom by the Rug Company. Retro-inspired coffee table is Ninfea from Poltrona Frau. I love how the books are displayed upright.

Closet shot.

I love the large scale of the upholstered headboard...fabric is Velvet Gate Tuxedo from Kravet

My FAV FAV FAV part about this apartment is the dramatic wallpaper. The bedroom features Rococo Damask by Cole and Son.
The entry features Oiseau in Chocolate by Katie Ridder.

Loving The Love Shop…

One day when I was killing time, I wandered over to Esty and typed in “french”. Of course MANY wonderful sellers popped up (they always do…Esty sellers are amazingly creative!). But The Love Shop definitely caught my eye with its brightly colored prints boasting classic and/or inspirational quotes. These babies are perfect for a bedroom wall or hanging over your desk for inspiration.

JJ, the designer and artist behind The Love Shop, describes her inspiration in the store’s profile: “I’ve experienced some very challenging times over the past few years and throughout those times when things looked dark, I grabbed a hold of love and held on for dear life. I noticed that when I focused on love, I felt better. This was when the idea for the Love Shop was born. Now it’s all I want to do. Focus on love. Express love, give love”.

Glad she did! Check out some prints for purchase from The Love Shop.

You Know How I Wish That I Was British?...

…Well I am Olive Juicing the CRAP out of this London staple’s collaboration on our side of the pond. Liberty of London and Target have teamed up for one hell of a spring treat with a fashion and home line available now.

For those of you who don’t worship British culture like I do, Liberty of London is a luxury accessories brand located in London’s West End shopping district.

Holding true to Liberty’s classic vintage style and small scale florals in soft colors, Target’s line does not disappoint. It’s all very “English Garden” chic just in time for Spring!
